Recommended Websites Proper Use of Jack Stands When doing a car repair using a jack stand, you must put your vehicle in gear and set the parking brake. Using a floor jack, you can jack up the car. If you have no floor jack, you can use the tire-changing jack instead. Lift one side of the car at a time just like in changing tire and place the jack stand. Repeat the procedure until you set everything up. In putting the jack stand under your car, follow the safe jack positioning which is indicated in your owner's manual. Lower the jack gradually until the car is resting on the jack stands. Check if the jack stands are in the right position by leaning on the bumper and shaking the vehicle. Automotive Sites: |
